Beginner Meditation Class
Thursday, September 16th, 6:30 - 7:30/8:00 pm
with Cindy Pederson
$5 per person

Throughout the day, when we experience stress, our bodies automatically react in ways that prepare us to fight or run.  In some cases of extreme danger, this physical response is helpful.  However, a prolonged state of such agitation can cause physical damage to every part of the body.  Meditation affects the body in exactly the opposite way that stress does - it restores the body to a calm state, helps the body to repair itself, and prevents new damage due to the physical effects of stress.

The Benefits of Meditation:
The benefits of meditation are manifold.  When practicing meditation, your heart rate and breathing slow down, your blood pressure normalizes, you use oxygen more efficiently, and you sweat less.  Also, your adrenal glands produce less cortisol, your mind ages at a slower rate, and your immune function improves. Your mind also clears, and your creativity increases.  People who meditate regularly find it easier to give up life-damaging habits like smoking, drinking and drugs.

Meditation is wonderful in that it's free, always available, and amazingly effective in short-term stress reduction and long-term health.  Benefits can be felt in just one session.

In this class we will discuss the many benefits of Meditation, then practice four different beginner Meditation techniques so that you may find the right one for you to begin your own Meditation practice.

Bring a pillow or cushion to sit on.  Minimum of 3 to hold class.  1 to 1 1/2 hrs.

Bring a friend!!
Cheese, crackers and wine available before and after class.


Cindy Pederson lives near Lake Mills, IA. She is a Reiki Practitioner and a Therapeutic Coach practicing Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Psychology for which she received her certificates at the Meta Institute, Minneapolis, MN. Cindy currently sees clients at the Healing House in Clear Lake, IA.  She began her meditation practice as the result of a medical issue created from stress. Cindy enjoys sharing what she has learned about this technique with others, which offers many long term health benefits.



What's Happening At the Studio this Month:
  • Fall Schedule Change
    • Beginning the week of Sept. 13...
      Studio open for Group Mat Classes and Private/Semi Sessions:  Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays
    • Saturday classes are back!!  
      Beginning September 18th:  Mixed level class at 8:30am;  also Private/Semi Sessions available until noon.
  • FREE Pilates in the Park - Albert Lea, MN
    Join me and sample a FREE Beginning Level
    Pilates Mat Class in beautiful Edgewater Park in Albert Lea (by the Band Shell).  Wear comfortable clothing, and bring a towel or mat.  
    Rain location: Senior Center, Skyline Mall

  • Pilates Movement Principles Class
    Do the terms Neutral Pelvis and Lateral Breathing sound foreign to you? Want to know just what are the core muscles? Create balanced muscle strength and whole body awareness in this one-time class to learn the basic Pilates movements and principles. Excellent for those interested in joining mat classes, but don't want to feel "new" at their first class! Also a great refresher for current students who want to fine-tune their body awareness.  Must have minimum of 3 to hold class. Sign up with a friend!
    $10 for one-time class, sign up available online
